Climate Mobility Perspectives at COP28
Ivonne Serna, Climate Mobility Youth Delegate from Mexico, brought to light the multifaceted impacts of climate change on human mobility and community livelihoods.
Speaking in the Climate Mobility Pavilion, she emphasized that climate change acts as a systemic risk multiplier, with water insecurity posing significant threats in her community. Her speech underscored the complex interdependencies of climate change and the urgent need for integrated solutions.

El Concurso y Festival de Cortometrajes Caleidoscopio del Bicentenario Estados Unidos-México fue organizado por Arizona State University, la Universidad de Guadalajara y el Mexico Institute del Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, y la Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores de México para reconocer y honrar una mezcla de historias cotidianas que demuestran cómo la estrecha relación México-Estados Unidos afecta nuestras vidas y sociedades. Caleidoscopio recibió más de 850 propuestas. Catorce finalistas fueron evaluados por un panel binacional de ocho jueces con una amplia experiencia en la elaboración de políticas y la narración de historias.
"Sabor Y Amor" de Ivonne Serna y Luke Robins, fue ganador del tercer lugar.

Two alumni from the Class of 2023 won third place in the U.S.-Mexico Bicentennial Kaleidoscope Short Film Contest. Sabor y Amor, by Ivonne Juarez Serna and Luke Robins, showcases the vibrancy and resourcefulness of Vermont’s oftenoverlooked immigrant community at the heart of the state’s iconic dairy industry.

An ode to an immigrant mother’s sacrifices, a poem about the challenges of retaining one’s identity when navigating between cultures, and a tribute to how food can keep us connected to our roots and help build new communities. These are the themes of “My Mother, My Hero,” “Enough,” and “Sabor y Amor,” the three short films to receive top honors in the Bicentennial Kaleidoscope Short Film Contest, which marks the 200th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the United States and Mexico. The awards will be formally announced at a Motion Picture Association event in Washington, DC on Tuesday, September 12.

To mark the 200th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mexico and the United States, Arizona State University, Universidad de Guadalajara, and the Wilson Center Mexico Institute launched the US-Mexico Bicentennial Kaleidoscope: A Short Film Contest and Festival.
At our global HQ, we were honored to host a special screening of the winning films, in partnership with Mexico’s Secretary of Foreign Relations.
The event also featured a discussion about the underlying challenges and opportunities in telling the story of our cross-border ties, led by Migration Policy Institute president Andrew Selee, former US Ambassador to Mexico Roberta Jacobson, and The Sidney Poitier New American Film School deputy director Peter Murrieta.
